Wilhelm Reich was a brilliant psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and social philosopher who made groundbreaking contributions to our understanding of the human mind. He was also a controversial figure, whose work was often met with skepticism and hostility. In 1956, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ordered the destruction of all of Reich’s books and equipment, claiming that his work was “fraudulent” and “dangerous.” Reich himself was imprisoned for contempt of court and died in prison in 1957, at the age of 60.

Many people believe that Reich was the victim of a government conspiracy to suppress his work. They point to the fact that the FDA’s actions were unprecedented, and that Reich was never given a fair trial. They also argue that Reich’s work was on the verge of revolutionizing our understanding of the mind and body, and that the government was afraid of the implications of his work.
